Feed or freeze
One furnace. The whole server feeds it. Safe inside the heat, war outside it.
What Coalheart is
A Frostpunk-inspired Rust server. The cold is the enemy, one shared Furnace keeps the last city alive, and its heat ring is the only safe place on the map. Safe inside the heat, war outside it.

−90°C
It gets colder every day, colder every night, worse in a whiteout. Heat your base with radiators and stoves, wear wool under fur, eat your meat cooked.
1Furnace
A walled city round a generator tower everyone feeds: shops for scrap and Heat Credits, homes to rent, laws to vote, research the server funds together.
The Hearth · the last city
Everything Coalheart adds lives in one place: a walled city 280 metres across, round a generator tower that never stops burning.
The generator tower in the plaza burns whatever the city gives it. Fed well it climbs from Stage I to Stage III, and in a storm to Overdrive, and its heat ring grows. Run it hot and the pressure builds: someone has to vent it at the tower before it breaks.
Every law trades one hardship for another: more gathering for colder nights, a bigger ring for a hungrier Furnace. Proposals and votes happen inside the hall, over a whole in-game day. Only people who really keep the city get a say.
Twelve projects in three tiers, started and funded at any workbench of their tier. Steam hubs that warm a whole base, insulated walls, coal thumpers, fur-lined coats. What the city learns lasts until the wipe.
Seventy-five homes along the ring streets. Rent one for scrap and it is yours for three days: a code lock only your team opens, your bed, a box that keeps your things. Pay ahead from the box and it renews itself.
Inside the wall nobody can hurt you. Sentries stand on the gate pillars and the rooftops and watch the road 30 metres out. Draw a gun and you are hostile: the Watch turns you back at the gate, and no bed in the city takes you until it passes.
Outside temperature
-20°C
Day one, at noon
The warmest it will ever be. A snow jacket and a fire are enough.
Body below 5 °C: frostbite, 10% slower, 20% less gathered. Below −10 °C: hypothermia, 25% slower, 40% less. A warm meal is +8 °C for five minutes.
The Frostlands · 3 km of ice
38 places on one frozen island. Rust's own ranch, barn, fishing villages and harbours are back as Facepunch made them; the rest were built for the cold.

Before you join
What people ask before their first night on the ice.
A Rust server with a Frostpunk-style survival layer. You gather, build and raid as in plain Rust, but the world is frozen and the cold is the fourth enemy. One walled city burns round a generator tower the players feed, vote laws for and research together.
Yes. Nothing is taken away: monuments, raids, roof camps and PvP work as you know them. The server adds the cold, the city with its homes and Council, settlements out on the ice, world events and winter loot.
Nearly two hundred people, all of them with a story you can draw out by talking to them (E). The Hearth's citizens keep their own hours, eat, fall ill and die; a caravan walks the roads each day; every place out there is lived in, worked, abandoned or held by one lonely keeper. Hurt one of a place's people and they fight back.
Anywhere but at a place: the city, settlements, waystations, monuments and the like have a no-build zone round them, shown red on the building plan as at Rust's own monuments. Outside them, build as in Rust, and heat your base.
No. Everything runs on the server (an Oxide plugin). You join with the normal Rust client from Steam.
Everywhere outside the city's wall and the settlements' safe stops. Inside the wall is a Rust safe zone; draw a gun and you are hostile, and the Watch keeps hostile players out of the city until it passes.
Search for Coalheart in the Rust server browser, or open the console with F1 and type client.connect followed by the address on this page. You wake inside the city, by the Furnace.
Day one is −20 °C at noon, and every day is 2° colder until it settles at −45. Nights are 15° colder and twice as long, a whiteout takes another 25°, and once a wipe the Great Storm brings −90.
Under a roof by dusk. Steam radiators and hubs on a heat pipe, iron stoves on wood, stone walls rather than twig, warm clothes, and cooked meat (+8 °C for five minutes). Inside the Furnace's heat ring the air is 20 to 55 °C warmer, by its stage.
No. Coalheart is a fan-made server inspired by Frostpunk, not affiliated with Facepunch or 11 bit studios.
